Z is for Zebra

West is crazy about zebras, which say "Ack!", by the way. Shhhhh ... don't tell West but his third birthday party in July is going to prominently feature black and white stripes. :-) We capped off a fun trip to the Disney playground with a zebra ride on the carousel. He lasted about 1 minute before the terror hit and he insisted on getting off. I can't say I blamed him.

Owen is Three!!!

West got to celebrate his friend Owen's 3rd birthday and try out a new playground! What could be better than cupcakes and a concrete slide of death? West started the day off right with a fearless jump from a 4-foot platform onto asphalt. Thankfully, it was over before Mama realized it had happened and he was fine. Then he was off, leading good friend Matteo on a merry chase. What followed was an outrageous amount of fun - prepare yourself for an onslaught of photos.

We were lucky enough to receive an invite to a fabulous, low-key birthday party for one of West's old daycare buddies at a playground. It was a clear, sunny day - and bitterly cold. Perfect weather for breaking out West's puffy vest! He headed out looking like something straight out of the pages of the J. Crew catalog.

Grandma and Grampa Grampa sent West a mini-kick scooter for Hanukkah and we decided it was high time we took it out for a spin at the skate park. The kid was a natural! He showed off some crazy moves, some of which I managed to capture below, and looked like a total pro. I'm afraid we might have a future X-gamer on our hands here ...

A "Great" Love Affair

One of the highlights of our "home for the holidays" trip was a fabulous brunch with the Taetle side of the family. I think we were in very real danger of losing Tate to Great-Aunt Laurie for a while there. We escaped in the nick of time, full of lovely food and even better company. Even Ray seemed somewhat smitten with - or at least impressed by - the kids. Thanks for hosting!

West adores our backyard - it is big and full of wonderful things to explore and seek out. Pretty much heaven on earth for a two-year-old. West loves to go on discovery adventures, getting up close and personal with flowers, bugs, rocks, and leaves. And dirt of course! Here are a few shots from an evening romp in the backyard.
